Dr. Amy J. Hackenberg has been instrumental in the US Math Recovery Council® expanding our course offerings with the release of the AVMR Fractions course. She, Dr. Anderson Norton and Dr. Bob Wright are the co-authors of the latest in the Math Recovery® book series, Developing Fractions Knowledge. Dr. Hackenberg is an Associate Professor of Mathematics Education at Indiana University - Bloomington. She has spent more than a decade conducting research on how middle school students construct fractions knowledge and other related topics. Dr. Hackenberg is a reflective practitioner and true student of how children construct knowledge. She will present a keynote address with Dr. Anderson Norton and lead two smaller breakout sessions at this year’s conference. Dr. Hackenberg will provide insight into her research results, along with practical ideas for working with children to help them construct knowledge of fraction concepts.
