2017 Summer Institute Offerings

The US Math Recovery Council® is excited to announce an expanded range of Summer Institute offerings for 2017! The Summer Institute offerings include three opportunities to participate in an Add+VantageMR® Champion course, two opportunities to participate in an Add+VantageMR® Fractions Champion course, one opportunity to participate in the Math Recovery® Leader course, and one opportunity to participate in a Math Recovery® Intervention Specialist course. Each of these courses will be taught by our expert staff and will include virtual cohort meetings following the face-to-face course days.

    January Twitter Chat January 17th 8pm Central

    Our January Twitter Chat will be on Tuesday, January 17th at 8pm Central Time. Twitter chats allow us to have a public Twitter conversation around our unique hashtag #USMRCchat. The hashtag allows you to follow the discussion, as well as, to participate in, if desired.

    Congratulations 2016 Math Recovery® Intervention Specialists!

    The Math Recovery® Intervention Specialist Course is a one to two-year intense professional development experience resulting in certification as a Math Recovery® Intervention Specialist. To complete the course and to certify as a Math Recovery® Intervention Specialist, participants complete a minimum of 100 hours of one-on-one Math Recovery® intervention teaching, an assessment project and final capstone project to demonstrate competencies in assessment and teaching.

    Pioneer Award The US Math Recovery Council® Pioneer Award is designed to honor individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the field of numeracy.

    We are seeking nominations from the membership of exceptional educators who have demonstrated highly effective engagement with students in the mathematics teaching and learning process, who have demonstrated dedicated service to their school, community and/or the US Math Recovery Council® and who have demonstrated a significant commitment to their own professional growth.

    2017 Tuition Assistance

    In keeping with our mission, the US Math Recovery Council® Board of Directors has continued its tuition assistance for attendance at Math Recovery® events. All awarded funds will be used to offset US Math Recovery® registration costs.

    In 2017, we are offering three $12,000 gifts to bring Math Recovery® professional development to school sites. Selection preference will be given to schools based on student and staff needs, administrative support, and potential impact, with special consideration for schools newer to Math Recovery® programs. Three separate sites will be selected. Interested schools should complete and submit an application form by March 10, 2017.

    The US Math Recovery Council® is also offering three separate gifts of $3,500 toward Summer Institute training. Each of the three selected educators may choose to apply the award to Math Recovery® Intervention Specialist, Add+VantageMR® Champion, or Math Recovery® Leader training.     Add+VantageMR Fractions Champion

    Current Champions and Leaders who have taken Add+VantageMR® Fractions can register for the first Fractions Champion course. The Fractions Champion course will be offered beginning in April 2017, with specific dates and information coming in the upcoming weeks. The Fractions Champion course will include working with students as well as virtual meetings in the spring. It will be followed up with a three day face-to-face institute in either June or August. The course will deepen fractions content knowledge as well as discuss the facilitation of eLearning and live modules. Watch for more information in early 2017.     Have not taken the Add+VantageMR® Fractions course and want to attend Fractions Champion? Another Add+VantageMR® Fractions course will begin in January.     Champion Information: Holiday Shipping Timelines for Kit Orders

    Add+VantageMR® CHAMPIONS: We would like to accommodate your December and January trainings before holiday shipping timelines become challenged and overburdened. Your Purchase Orders must be received by December 12th for any courses occurring before January 16, 2017.

    Just as your school district will be closed for a period of time during the upcoming holiday season, our office will also have staffing fluctuations and office closures during the holidays. If you have orders that are either on the books currently or being sent to us in the near future, please let us know what days your school district will be closed for receiving shipments. You may email cindy@mathrecovery.org with your closure dates.

    NEW! Math Recovery® Online Support Modules

    The first in a series of online Math Recovery® Support Modules is now available! If you are an Add+VantageMR® teacher or Champion, or a Math Recovery® Intervention Specialist you will be able to access the “Partitions of 10: 5-wise 10-frames” support module through the following steps:

    1. Sign into your account on the Math Recovery® website
    2. Under “Dashboard”, select “Course Center”
    3. Under “Course Center”, select “Support Modules”
    4. Within the “Partitions of 10: 5-wise 10-frames” box, click the blue “Launch Module” button

    Support modules are available at no charge to members who have completed the required AVMR or MRIS courses. As more support modules are developed, you will be able to choose the modules that fit your needs and, best of all, complete them when you have time.
