Dare to Compare (Independent)

Purpose: Counting items of two collections to find the total when items are visible

Description: Students practice solving addition tasks when items are visible.

Players: 2

Materials

  • Dare to Compare Cards
  • Student Directions

Directions

  • 1

    Pass out all the cards.

  • 2

    Players turn over a card at the same time and determine the total of the items on their card.

  • 3

    Players present their card and tell how many.

  • 4

    The player with the largest sum keeps both cards.

  • 5

    When all cards have been played, the player with the most cards wins.

Variations

Students lay their cards down and determine the total of each other’s cards.
