2014 US Math Recovery® Council Conference Overview
Join us at the 2014 US Math Recovery® Annual Meeting and Conference, May 6-8, in Austin, Texas. Gather with mathematics educators interested in promoting research-based mathematics teaching and learning.
The conference has moved to a Tuesday – Thursday, schedule this year and will conclude Thursday at 12:00PM. Heighten your knowledge and practice by attending the pre-conference being held on Monday, May 5, featuring half-day workshops with Dr. Jonathan Thomas (morning session), Petey MacCarty and Kurt Kinsey (afternoon session), or a free half-day information session for newcomers to Math Recovery® (also afternoon).
Dr. Jonathan Thomas
Dr. Jonathan Thomas is an assistant professor of mathematics education at Northern Kentucky University and a Kentucky Center for Mathematics faculty associate. Formerly an elementary school teacher and intervention specialist in the greater-Cincinnati area, Jonathan has a strong interest in the mathematical development of children. Pamela Weber Harris
Pamela Weber Harris is numerically powerful! But she wasn't always. As a secondary math teacher, Pam got interested in early numeracy when her children started school and she learned that there is a better way to teach arithmetic. Aligned with this year’s theme, “The Difference is YOU in Transforming Numeracy Education,” nationally recognized keynote speakers Pamela Weber Harris and Dr. Jonathan Thomas will inspire us and launch our conference on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. Throughout this three-day professional development experience, concurrent sessions will offer a variety of topics to illuminate teaching practices that promote student learning, including lunch-time discussions for administrators and special education teachers.
