This workshop provides a deep dive into Instruction Phase 1, Foundational Knowledge for Mental Addition and Subtraction to 100. We will investigate the three aspects of arithmetic knowledge which constitute the foundational knowledge of mental strategies: Structuring numbers 1 to 20; Conceptual Place Value; and Higher Decade Addition and Subtraction. Participants will leave with activities specifically addressing these aspects.
